The Literary Construction of Journalism Education: A Review of the Course Literature in the Nordic Academic Journalism Programmes

This article investigates the course literature in the curricula of 12 major journalism schools at Northern European universities. This analysis of the course literature listed in documentation of bachelor programmes traces how journalism education institutions constitute their knowledge base on journalism. It is found that Nordic journalism students are required to read almost four books per study credit on average. Undergraduate academic journalism programmes are professionally oriented, and professional literature by non-scientific publishers occupies a major place in the course literature. The Arabidopsis arenosa complex is closely related to the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. Species and subspecies in the complex are mainly biennial, predominantly outcrossing, herbaceous, and with a distribution range covering most parts of latitudes and the eastern reaches of Europe. The massacre of Palazzo d’Accursio is considered one of the first events in the rise of the Fascist squads. This article analyzes the ways in which the event was described in Bologna during the twenty years that followed it. It is believed that in the first few years, commemorations that emphasized the role of the Fascist squads were not very common. Instead, they concentrated on the life of Giulio Giordani, a murdered lawyer and opposition councilor, who became a martyr. Power laws and the market structure of tourism industry

In this article, we use both graphical and analytical methods to investigate the market structure of one of the world’s fastest growing industries. For the German and Italian datasets, we show that the size distribution of tourism industry is heavy-tailed and consistent with a power-law behavior in its upper tail. Such a behavior seems quite persistent over the time horizon covered by our study, provided that during the period 2004–2009, the shape parameter is always in the vicinity of 2.5 for Germany and 2.6 for Italy. From tryptophan metabolism to peptide antibiotic production in Streptomyces coelicolor

The tryptophan is a precursor of the lipopeptide calcium dependent antibiotic (CDA), produced from Streptomyces coelicolor and closely related to important antibiotics such as daptomycin. We have focused our attention on the correlation between CDA production and tryptophan metabolism in order to identify new strategies aimed at increasing the production of peptide antibiotics.

This article focuses on the phantasmagorical vision that can be observed in Leonora Carrington’s memoir Down Below, a work which mingles autobiography with some elements of fiction to tell about the author’s experience of mental disorder during World War II. The work is disseminated with hermetic messages animated by animal transfigurations of human beings and symbolic descriptions of space which are analysed here with the aim to restore literary value to the conscious phantasmagorical representation of this life experience. The Chapter aims to provide a critical review of the quantitative approaches so far introduced in literature to measure the sustainable tourism. We focus on both variables and methods employed to obtain synthetic indicators of sustainable tourism and aim to provide some critical insights on potential new challenges caused by the current pandemic. For example, some dimensions of tourism sustainability may become more relevant in future due to the increasing attention by people on health and safety. Finally, a focus on the studies on measurement of sustainable tourism in the Mediterranean area will be provided.
